It’s Elementary My Dear Watson: NO ENDORSEMENT FOR YOU!

I always wondered if anyone read my opinion column. When I was in Key West last month in the Poker Run, many WOTR readers came up to my booth, and complimented me for my well written column. Not only that, but our good friend Laurie Marie Watson, the candidate for Broward Circuit Court Judgegot pissed on my article titled: “PROBE OF THE BROWARD ROBE. “ In that article, I wrote that, Candidate for Judge Watson troubles me the most because she recently had a run in with the 4th District Court of Appeals (4th DCA) that affirmed a lower court’s findings that Watson unjustly enriched her law firm with $981,792.00 that belonged to the Defendant. That’s almost a million dollars!
You can read the court’s jaw-dropping decision at the 4th DCA, Case Number 4D08-4845 (Feb. 29, 2012); and the Palm Beach County Civil Case number 502004CA006138XXXXMBAO. In plain English, candidate Watson allowed her law firm to unjustly enrich itself with another’s cash and the judge ordered her to give it back. She appealed and lost at the second bite at the apple.
Candidate Watson’s Judicial Campaign mailed me a letter blasting my article and asking me to take it down. I guess my opinion piece hurt,s and it is hindering her chances of being elected Judge. She states in her letter that “the trial court exonerated her and her employees of any wrongdoing related to the settlement of the underlying 700 personal injury protection claims and bad faith claim.” I walked away with a different opinion: that she had committed a terrible wrong, and after re-reading the decisions I still stand by my article’s suggestion that we should NOT vote for Watson for Judge.
